SPONSOR: The sponsor of the MidAmerican Energy Foundation CARES Daily Donation Drawing (“Sweepstakes”) is MidAmerican Energy Foundation, PO Box 657, Des Moines, IA 50306-0657 (“Foundation”).

TERM: The Sweepstakes begins August 8, 2024, at 8:00 am Central Time and ends August 17, 2024, 8:00 pm Central Time. The grand prize drawing will take place August 18, 2024.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE: The Sweepstakes is free to enter and open to the public who have reached the age of majority. MidAmerican Energy Company employees and immediate family members are eligible to participate. Foundation employees and board members are not eligible to participate. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Participants are nominating non-profit organizations for the chance to win a $1,000 donation from the Foundation.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: To enter the Sweepstakes, participants must submit their name and email address along with the name of a non-profit organization, the city and state it resides in, and the organizations’ CARES category. Entries that do not include all the required information are not eligible for the donation. In-person electronic submissions will be accepted each day at the Foundation display located in the MidAmerican Energy building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds (300 E. Grand Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50317). Participants may also submit an entry online by accessing the MidAmerican Energy Foundation page of the MidAmerican Energy Company website. Entries will follow through the entire Sweepstakes; entries will not be reset each day.

QUALIFIED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS: Qualified non-profit organizations include 501(c)3 organizations that are classified as a public charity, as determined by the IRS, or government entities operating in MidAmerican Energy Company’s four-state service territory that provide programming to the general population within the CARES categories of Community Enhancement, Arts and Culture, Environmental Respect, Education/STEM or Safety and Wellness, as determined solely by the Foundation. Fraternal organizations with membership-based dues, individual sports teams or team walks and or faith-based organizations are not eligible.

AWARD: Qualified non-profit organizations in the Sweepstakes are eligible for a random daily drawing of chance from August 8, 2024, through August 17, 2024. The odds of Qualified non-profit organization being selected for a donation depend on the total number of eligible entries in the Sweepstakes. The selected non-profit organization will receive a $1,000 donation from the Foundation after thorough review of their tax status and general operation. Non-profit organizations are limited to one daily drawing award during the duration of the Sweepstakes.

On August 18, 2024, a random drawing of chance for $10,000 will be held among the ten non-profit organizations previously selected for the $1,000 daily awards. The Foundation will announce the daily drawing non-profit organizations on social media channels like Facebook and Twitter and will notify the recipient non-profit organizations in writing via email and U.S. Mail. A list of non-profit organizations receiving the donations may be obtained by sending a request to MidAmerican Energy Foundation via email at foundation@midamerican.com or by mailing a request along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: MidAmerican Energy Foundation, PO Box 657, Des Moines, IA 50306-0657.

CONDITIONS: In the event any selected non-profit organization is ineligible, refuses the award, cannot be located or does not respond within 10 days to the notification, the award shall be forfeited and the Foundation, in its sole discretion, may choose whether to give the award to another non-profit organization. 

AGREEMENT TO RULES: By participating, you agree to be fully unconditionally bound by the Sweepstakes Rules as outlined and you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements set forth herein. In addition, you agree and understand that all awards shall be made directly to an eligible qualified non-profit organization and that you agree that you have no claim, whether at law or equity, to any monies that may be donated through the Sweepstakes. You agree to accept the decisions of the Foundation as final and binding as it relates to the content and donations made to eligible non-profit organizations. 

The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws, Iowa State Fair rules, and is void where prohibited by law. MidAmerican Energy Foundation reserves the right to amend, expand or discontinue this Sweepstakes at any time, to waive any technical formalities and to make such interpretations in the administration of the Sweepstakes and award of donations as may be required.
