EnergyAdvantage® For Your Home
|
 |
HomeCheck®

A free energy audit of your South
Dakota home, built before Dec. 31, 1989, can lead to significant savings
for years to come.
The first step toward making your home more energy efficient is to give it an
inspection with the MidAmerican EnergyAdvantage HomeCheck program. Not only is
the energy audit by a MidAmerican energy specialist free, so are several
energy-saving improvements that may be implemented at the time of the audit.
How Does it Work?
Simply call us at 800-545-0762 to make an appointment with a MidAmerican
energy specialist. The specialist will provide you with a report of the
condition of your home’s insulation, heating and cooling efficiency, water
heating equipment and the condition of your windows. This report can then be
used as a guide for implementing energy-efficient improvements. Free improvements
that may be made at the time of assessment include:
 |
 |
A water heater insulation blanket; |
 |
 |
Six feet of water pipe insulation; |
 |
 |
Up to two energy-saving faucet aerators; and |
 |
 |
Up to two energy-saving shower heads. |
The energy specialist will examine the existing insulation level in your home.
If the home qualifies for insulation rebates, the specialist will recommend
insulation with rebates up to 70 percent or $750 for attic, sidewall and
foundation. The energy specialist also can install a programmable thermostat
for $30 plus tax.
