By the end of 2009, MidAmerican will have available nearly 7,200 megawatts of generating capability: approximately 50 percent fueled by coal; 21 percent natural gas and oil; 10 percent nuclear; and 19 percent wind, hydroelectric and biomass; and less than 1 percent by other nonrenewable sources.

We are ranked No. 1 among rate-regulated utility owners of wind energy installations in the nation and are a leader in increasing the amount of electricity generated from renewable resources.

Production costs at our coal-fueled generation stations are lower than regional and national averages. We also have majority ownership in five of the six jointly owned coal-fueled generating stations in Iowa.
