William J. Fehrman, 49, is president and chief executive officer of MidAmerican Energy Company. Fehrman is also president, chief executive officer and chief nuclear officer of MidAmerican Nuclear Energy Company. Fehrman is a member of both company’s board of directors. Both companies are a subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, a global leader in the production of energy from diversified fuel sources including geothermal, natural gas, hydroelectric, nuclear, coal and wind. MidAmerican also is a leader in the supply and distribution of energy in the U.S. and U.K. consumer markets, with approximately 6.9 million electricity and gas customers.

MidAmerican Energy Company provides regulated electric and natural gas service to nearly 1.4 million customers in Iowa and surrounding states. The company owns and operates a diverse portfolio of power generating assets, as well as a growing transmission infrastructure. MidAmerican Nuclear Energy Company’s focus is on nuclear-related projects world-wide.

Until September 2007, Fehrman was the President of PacifiCorp Energy, with responsibility for the electric generation, commercial and energy trading, construction management and coal-mine development and operations of the company. Fehrman joined MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company in February 2006 to oversee integration activities of the company's acquisition of PacifiCorp.

Prior to that, Fehrman was president and chief executive officer of Nebraska Public Power District, based in Columbus, Neb. He joined Nebraska Public Power District in May 1981, and held various positions across the business including assignments in both fossil and nuclear generation. He had been CEO since Jan. 1, 2003.

Fehrman graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. In 1998, he earned a master's degree in business administration from Regis University, Denver, Colo. He has also completed the Reactor Technology Program for utility executives from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and National Academy for Nuclear Training and has completed the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations Senior Nuclear Plant Management Course. Fehrman is a retired member of the National Nuclear Accrediting Board.
